The End of an Era
There comes a time when you have to sit back and take stock of what you have achieved and make a decision on your future. I have just been through that scenario.
So with that in mind, I announce that after 10 years, the Carson Taylor Band will be finishing with a final appearance at Davey's Hotel, Frankston, on Sunday 4th November 2001 at 3pm. Free Entry.
The band did its first gig at the Argo Inn in Sth Yarra, in September 1991, and has done over 500 performances at 70 odd venues.
Our aim was to be one of the best blues/rock bands in Australia, and to a degree, we believe we achieved that. Although, getting local recognition was always a "hard road", performing has been the best part.
I would like to thank many people for their support and encouragement, like past members: Tony Barrs, Lindsay Nankivell, Tony Lunt, Bryan Angliss, Kevin Fennessy and "Snakehipps" for some wonderful songs. I would also mention, on the odd occasion, fill in musos, Mick Elliott (with 2 T's) and Bill Lincoln.
Thank you Clare at the Grandview in Fairfield, for giving us a start in the early days, Russ Kellett, Peanuts, Sonia Meggs and all at the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society. Thanks Ray at Rayjen Music, for keeping my costs down, and Dave Ulbrick, for looking after the "Fretless Weapon", A special thanks to my partner Margaret, who has given me unbelievable support.
Big thanks go to my partners in crime, Geoff Spooner, Kevin Buckingham and Bob Pritchard, who together have brought the music to it's definitive best. Without them, it would not have happened. We are close friends and will remain that way forever.
