Known on both community radio and television as one of the most popular hardest driving bands in Melbourne, the Carson Taylor Band constantly prove that experience most certainly does count.
With a history that goes back over thirty years, their experience shows as one of the best live acts you will ever see. Always pumping with great riffs and solid rhythms, the band boasts two lead guitarists and a host of originals that will rock you again and again.
From Kevin and Geoff's incredible guitar lines, Ian's solid bass riffs and soaring vocals to Bob's "engine room" drum patterns, they are true exponents of Australian rock/rhythm and blues, with a few musical surprises thrown in to temp the musical taste buds of all that have seen them.
So don't forget your dancing shoes, party attitude and a group of good friends, the Carson Taylor Band experience will fill all your re-creational needs.

Before we go any further with this review I should declare that Doug Ford is one of the main reasons I took up the guitar. His song writing, playing and presence in The Master's Apprentices was integral to the way I developed as a musician and as a person.
Having got that out of the way, I'm really pleased to say that when it comes to churning out great rock music, albeit in a duo format, both Doug Ford and Ian Ferguson deliver the goods. Ferg has a great voice and sings with power and conviction; while Ford delivers some wonderfully fluid rock licks. It is the combination of their talent and love of the music they helped to create, that prevents their show from just being another recycled, golden oldies, nostalgia trip.
Ferg, best known for his work with "Carson" (which also produced another wonderful talent in Broderick Smith) and the "Carson Taylor Band", sings all the great Aussie hits of the 60's and 70's with a sureness and control that can only have been developed by playing night after night in great pub rock venues around the country.
Their set contained such classics as "Golden Miles", "Seasons Of Change", "It's Because I Love You", "Boogie" and the wonderful instrumental "Rio de Janeiro".
If you see these guys advertised to play near you, grab a ticket and a front row seat… you won't regret a single minute.

Ford and the Ferg
Sunday November 5th 2000 will surely be a day that will go down in Melbourne music history, for it saw the inception of Ford & The Ferg, (Doug Ford and Ian Ferguson).
For thirty-two years, these two legends had not played together, since Doug left "Running, Jumping, Standing Still" to join "The Masters Apprentices", and Ian went on to join "Carson", and eventually form his own band, the "Carson Taylor Band" in 1991.
Performances since have seen audiences of all ages enjoy the mix of old and new songs with that most definite Aussie flavour.
Doug's guitar work continues to improve amazingly (if that's possible), and Ian's driving chords, harmonica and soaring vocals guarantee an evening of musical history, every time they perform.
Catch them if you can, you will not be disappointed.
